RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO CAL FIRE
FOR FUNDING UNDER THE PROPOSITION 4 WILDFIRE
PREVENTION GRANTS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, in November 2024, California voters approved the Safe Drinking
Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024
(Proposition 4), which provides funds to the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection
(CAL FIRE) for the implementation of wildfire prevention and resilience projects across
the state; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 4 funding may be used for hazardous fuels reduction, fire -
adapted community programs, and the procurement of tools, equipment, and other
resources necessary to protect people, structures, and communities from wildfire; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto desires to apply for Proposition 4 grant funding
to implement a hazardous fuels reduction project and purchase equipment and supplies
including chainsaws, hoses, and other tools necessary for wildfire prevention and public
safety; and
WHEREAS, CAL FIRE requires an authorized resolution from the governing body
of the applicant as part of the grant application process;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City
of San Jacinto as follows:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the submittal of a grant application to CAL
FIRE under the Proposition 4 Wildfire Prevention Grants Program for the purpose of
implementing a hazardous fuels reduction project and purchasing necessary wildfire
prevention equipment and supplies.
Section 2. The City certifies that it has, or will have, sufficient funds to operate and
maintain the project(s).
Section 3. The City certifies that funds under its jurisdiction are available to begin
the project and that the City will expend grant funds prior to the grant performance period
deadline.

Section 4. The City Council appoints the City Manager, or designee, as the
authorized representative to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents,
including but not limited to applications, agreements, payment requests, and
amendments necessary to implement and complete the project .
