RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO CAL FIRE
FOR FUNDING UNDER THE CALIFORNIA CLIMATE
INVESTMENTS (CCI) WILDFIRE PREVENTION GRANTS
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the State of California, through the California Climate Investments
(CCI) program and the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), has made
funding available to local agencies, tribes, non -profits, and others for wildfire prevention
and planning projects; and
WHEREAS, the CCI Wildfire Prevention Grants Program is designed to fund
activities that reduce wildfire risk and increase resilience, including planning efforts such
as Local Hazard Mitigation Plans and General Plan Safety Element updates; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto intends to undertake wildfire prevention
planning activities in support of community wildfire risk reduction and climate resilience;
and
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto desires to submit a grant application to CAL
FIRE for the California Climate Investments Wildfire Prevention Grants Program for the
purpose of preparing a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and updating the City’s General Plan
Safety Element;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City
of San Jacinto as follows:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the submittal of a grant application to CAL
FIRE under the California Climate Investments Wildfire Prevention Grants Program for a
planning grant to support the development of a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and Safety
Element update.
Section 2. The City certifies that it has, or will have, sufficient funds to operate and
maintain the project(s).
Section 3. The City certifies that funds under its jurisdiction are available to begin
the project and that the City will expend grant funds prior to the grant performance period
deadline.

Section 4. The City Council appoints the City Manager, or designee, as the
authorized representative to conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents,
including but not limited to applications, agreements, payment requests, and
amendments necessary to implement and complete the project.
