RESOLUTION F THE CITY COUNCIL TO ADOPT AND ALLOCATE
FUNDS FOR AN OUTDOORFITNESS COURTOPAT OF THE 2021
NATIONAL FITNESS CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, the Ctiy of San Jacinto has launched Ignite San Jacinto, a community
outreach program and adopted the Healthy Eating Active Living HEAL Resolution, which
focuses on active lifestyle, health, encourages physical activity and promotes community
wellness, and;
WHEREAS, the Ctiy of San Jacinto has submitted a Grant Application to National
Fitness Campaign {NFC} for participation in their 2021 initiative to install and activate
outdoor Fitness Courts@ in 200 cities and schools across the country, and;
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto will accept a $30,000 National Grant from
NFC, and provide a local match in the amount of up to $220,000 to promote and
implement a free -to -the -public outdoor Fitness Courts, and;
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto will secure supplemental funding as needed
through community sponsors, which will be made available and committed to this program
for the purchase of the outdoor Fitness Cou , and;
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto will commit to construction and launch of the
outdoor Fitness Courts by the end of the 2021 calendar year, and;
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto believes the outdoor Fitness Courts is an
important wellness ecosystem that supports healthier communities, commits to
fUndingtfundraising to participate in NFC°s 2021 Campaign, and will earn local and
national recognition as a leader in providing affordable health and wellness.
NOW THEREFORE, IT RESOLVED, determined, and ordered by the City
Council of the City of San Jacinto will collaborate with NFC to implement the outdoor
Fitness Courts and make fitness free to community residents and visitors.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
on the 2V1 day of October, 2020 by the following vote:
AYES; Utz, Ruiz, Lopez, Ledez a, Kotyuk
