A RESOLUTION OF TIME CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN JACINTO. CALIFORNIA
EST_ABLISHLNG SERVICE AUTHORITY FOR
ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT
WHEREAS, Section 9250.7 of the California Vehicle Code was amended in 1990 to
provide for the establishment of a Service Authority for Abandoned Vehicle Abatement (AVA) if
the Board of Supervisors of the county and a majority of the cities within the county having a
majority of the population adopt resolutions providing for the establishment of the authority, and,
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto City Council finds that abandoned, inoperable,
wreckLd, dismantled vchicles or parts thereof nose a health and safety hazard and are found ne
public nui5ances, and,
WHREAS, the City cf San Jacinto City Council finds that an abandoned vehicle
abatement program is needed to .rovide -or the proper removal and disposal of abandoned
vehicies and assist law enforcement and code erdi3rce re t wersonnel i- aba:e^:er., of abandoned
vehicles. and
WHEREAS, the Riverside County AVA Service Authority will have responsibility for
in.rlementing an abandoned vehicle removal prograrn in Riverside County region,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED, that the City Council of the
City of San Jacinto hereby requests that a Service Authority for Abandoned Vehicles be
established in Riverside County pursuant to the provision of Section 22710 of the California
Vehicle Code
BE IT FURTHER. RESOLy71), that the City of San Jacinto City Council directs that the
members of the City of San Jacinto shall serve as the Service Authority for Abandoned Vehicles in
the County of Riverside.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of San Jacinto City Council approve the
vehicle abatement program and plan of the AVA Service Authority of the County of Riverside
and a one dollar($1) vehicle registration fee be imposed.

California on this 17th Day of December 19 98 by the following vote:
