A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
4 SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING THE COUNTY OF
RIVERSIDE'S IMPOSITION OF FEES FOR BOOKING
5 PRISONERS
6 WHEREAS, the State Legislature finally balanced its budget in
August by underfunding counties by $800 million and told counties
7 to begin charging cities to book prisoners; and
8 WHEREAS, every city in Riverside County has adopted a balanced
budget for the fiscal year beginning July, 1990; and

WHEREAS, if Riverside County elects to charge cities for
10 booking prisoners, every city budget in the County will be thrown
into a deficit position.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of thel
12 City of San Jacinto, California, does hereby urge the Riverside
County Hoard of Supervisors to not implement the booking fees
13 authorized by SB 2557, and
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City of San Jacinto urges the
Board of Supervisors to create a Task Force of City and County
15 officials which would explore the County's booking process and
offer possible alternatives to the current system which would
16 reduce the overall cost of this important and necessary function.
17 ADOPTED by the City Council on the 4th day of December, 1990
and signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk this 5th day
18 of December, 1990.
