A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR
CITY ENGINEER TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE
CYCLE 5 HISP PROGRAM THROUGH CALTRANS DIVISION OF
LOCAL ASSISTANCE FOR A HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT TO INSTALL COUNTDOWN STYLE PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS
AND IMPROVE SAFETY FEATURES AT ALL SIGNALIZED
INTERSECTIONS
WHEREAS, the HSIP Cycle 5 was created in 2014 by 21 Century Act
(Map-21) for the purpose of achieving a significant reduction in fatalities and
serious injury on all public roads; and
WHEREAS, $111 Million per year was divided between state and regions
according to guidelines developed by the California Department of Transportation
to fund programs and pedestrian safety projects in Fiscal Year 2013-2014; and
WHEREAS, The safety is the highest concern of the citizens in the City of
San Jacinto:
WHEREAS, Motorists will have updated features to increase pedestrian
presence;
WHEREAS, Pedestrians can cross intersections with more confidence;
WHEREAS, City of San Jacinto applied for $300,000 HSIP Cycle 5 Grant
for improvement of 37 signalized intersections;
WHEREAS, City of San Jacinto agrees to complete the proposed grant
project within a timely manner in compliance Highway Safety Improvement
Project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of San Jacinto authorizes either the City Manager or City Engineer to execute the
Master Agreement as well as other required documentation, and to complete the
project with no exceptions.
