211 A RESOLUTION DF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN JACINTO ESTABLISHING SERVICE AUTHORITY
3 FOR FREEWAY EMERGENCIES (SAFE) AND DESIGNATING
RIVE RSIOF COUNTY TRANSPORTATION CohiMISSION AS SAFE
'WHEREAS, Section 255D of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes the

establishment of a Service Authority for Freeway mergencies (SAFE) if the

Board of Supervisors of the County and a ma,icrity of the cities within the

county having a majority of the population adopt resolutions providing for
the establishment thereof; and

IVHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Jacinto finds that a freewa

emergency motorist aid system is needed to enhance the safety of Totorists
11
travelling on freeways and expressways in the County of Riverside, and that
12
such a system will reduce the time spent by law enforcement officers respond-
13
ing to routine vehicle disablement; and

'WHEREAS, the Riverside County Transportation Commission is the appropri-

ate public agency to serve as the SAFE for the County of Riverside, the City

of San Jacinto and other cities within the county;

N01W, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED AND RESOLVED by the City Council of the Cit_

of San Jacinto, County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session
21
assembled on the 16th day of September 1986 that the Riverside County Servic
22
Authority for Freeway Emergencies (SAFE) is hereby established subject to th
23
provisions contained in Section 2550 of the Streets and Highways Code.

BE IT FURTHER ORDERED AND RESOLVED that the Riverside County Transporta-
tion Commission is hereby designated to serve as the SAFE for the County of

Commission shall constitute the Board of Directors of SAFE.

11 3. The Chairman of the Riverside County Transportation Commission shall

Sion and other officers and employees of the Commission shall serve

8 Riverside County Transportation Commission shall be used for the
conduct of business of SAFE and its Board of Directors.
