RESOLUTION NO. ':643
21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, TO APPRO!!E MEMBERSHIP
3 IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WATER COMMITTEE, INC.
4 WHEREAS, the Supreme Court has ruled that the State of Arizona be awarder
nearly sixty (60) percent of the Metropolitan Water District Colorado River
5l water entitlement; and
dl WHEREAS, the amount lost is equivalent to the needs of some 3-1/2 ail lic,
people per year, and Southern California's population is projected to increas,
7 by thirteen (13) percent to over 15 million people by the year 20DO; and

$ !cHEREA.S, future water demand in Southern California will require a capon
able and reliable water supply be established and maintained; and

WHEREAS, there exists a need for Southern California local governments,
10' businesses and water agencies to cooperatively identify and assess the future
water needs in Southern California_ and

WHEREAS, the Southern Caiifornia Water Committee, Inc. was formed to ap-
12 prise the public by integrating cities, Counties, water agencies and the pri-
vate sector into a cohesive organization to address the future water needs of
13 Southern California; and
14 WHEREAS, the Southern California Water Committee's budget is funded by
annual membership dues, and membership in the Southern California Water Com-
15 mittee will include either active praticipation and/or representation. if so
desired, in all pianninq and relevant activities.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
17 Jacinto supports the goals of the Southern California Committee, Inc.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves membership of the
City of San Jacinto at a cost of �750 for membership dues in the Southern
lg' California Water Committee, Inc. and that copies of this document and the an
nual membership fee will be transmitted to the Southern California Water Con
20 mittee, Inc., 17752 Skypark Circle, Suite 120, Irvine, California 92714.
