2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CiTY OF SAN
JAGIPITO, CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING "INLAND EMPIRE" AS
3il THE POSTMARK FOR THE RIVERSIDE/SAN BERNARDINO AREA
4 44HEREAS, the Riverside/San Bernardino metropolitan area is most easily
and commonly identified as the "INLAND EMPIRE"; and C
WHEREAS, many businesses, trade associations and service organizations
6 currently use "INLAND EMPIRE" in their name and in order to identify their
area of activity; and
NHEREAS, the economic business and emploument efforts of San Bernardino
8 and Riverside Counties and their cities would be enhanced and assisted by com-I
mon designation; and

WHEREAS, in terms of both population and economic activity the Riverside/ I
10 San Bernardino area is ,the largest in the United Stated lacking non_
hyoenated

official recognition; and `
UHEREAS, Tost business organizations in the area support the common de-
12, scriptive term "INLAND 'EMPIP,E";' and
13 WHEREAS, the counties and cities of San Bernardino and Riverside as well
as other cities in the two counties have previously endorsed "INLAND EMPIRE'
14 as the Postmark for the central mailing facility .re share; and
15i WHEREAS, our postal sectional center'does for its own Postal Customer
Council use the designation 'INLAND EMPIRE" at the direction and request of
16 Emilio Garcia, Postal Co-Chairman Colonel Minesinger, Industry Co-Chairman,
' and Orville Adair, industry Co-Chairman;

18 Jacinto, County of Riverside, State of California, in regular session assembled'
this 19th day of March 1985, reaffirms and endorses ' INLAND EMPIRE as the

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall send a certified copy of
21I this Resolution to the Postmaster General of the United States.
