1 RESOLUTION NO. 782
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF -SAN
JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO SUPPORT OF STATE
3 AB149 AND ADJUSTMENT OF< SALES' TAX REVENUE DISTRIBU—
TION WITHIN THE COUNTY TO REDUCE PROPERTY TAXES.

6 WHEREAS State Assembly Bill 149 proposes to rebate one—half
7 cent of the State's sales tax to the Counties so they can assume respon—
8 sibility , for various 'state programs and to reduce county property taxes;
9 and
10 WHEREAS the bill further proposes to require the State to
11 make quarterly installments to each County of,$10,000 and the estimated
12 balance of 5155 million to be distributed to each County based on its
13 population and taxable sales; and
14 WHEREAS it has been estimated that the County of Riverside
15 would receive $2.6 million t❑ be placed in a County property tax reduc-
16 tion fund; and
17 WHEREAS at the present time the County of Riverside is
Is receiving ten percent of the local agencies' one cent portion of the
19 State sales tax collected within the cities within the County (five
20 percent in the City of Palm Springs) ; and
21 ,IHEREAS it is the belief of the City of San Jacinto that
22 there is lese justification for the County to receive this portion of
23 said sales tax in light of the financial needs of the City and the pos-
24 sibility of tine County receiving` additional State sales tax monies and
25 it, therefore, appears that now is the time to make an adjustment of
` 26 said distribution arrangement.
27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of San Jacinto
28 herewith is consicering pledging its support of State 98149 provided
29 that the County of Riverside would negotiate :jn arljuatment of the
30 present amity-County ratio of distribution of monies received from the
31 current one rent sales tax collected within cities and now apportioned
32 between the Cities anti the County of Riverside.
