RESOLUTION NO. 759
2' A RESOLUTION URGING THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO
ADOPT THE PROPOSED FORMULA FOR ALLOCATION OF
3'i CIGARETTE TAX REVENUES TO CITIES PREPARED BY

MUNICIPAL FINANCE OFFICERS

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Jacinto has been

� I� Presented with a copy of the formula for allocation of cigarette
n tax revenues prepared by Committee of the California Society of
SI' municipal Finance Officers ; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto would profit most by an
10 allocation of cigarette 'tax revenue on the basis of population; and

WHEREAS, the City Council realizes that a compromise is in
12
order to adjust the differences between cities that would profit
13
most upon on allocation of cigarette tax revenue based upon sales

tax revenue and those cities that would ,profit most from an alloca'-
15
tion on the basis of population; and
161 WHEREAS, the proposed formula prepared by the Committee of

the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers is 'a fair
18
compromise of the conflict,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED in an adjourned regular session

this 16th day of January, 1968, as follows :

1. The City Council of the City of San Jacinto urges the
22
State Legislature of the State of California to adopt as the for-
_23
mula for allocation of cigarette tax revenues to cities of the
24
State of California the formula prepared by the Committee of the
25
California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, dated December

2 . The City Clerk is instructed to certify to the adoption

of this Resolution and to transmit copies thereof to the Honorable'
29 ,
Gordon Cologne, Senator, of Riverside County, the honorable Craig

Biddle, Assemblyman, Riverside Cotmty, and a copy to a representa6
