HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 750 i i I RESOLUTION NO. 750 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JACINTO ESTABLISHING THE NAME OF RAMONA 3 BOULEVARD TO THE CITY' LIMIT LINE AND DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CONSIDER CHANCING THE NAME OF ' SAID STREET TO SOME OTHER NAME SHOULD A CONFLICT OR CONFUSION OF 'NAMES EVER 'ARISE BY THE ESTAB- SI LISHMENT OF A HIGHWAY IN THE VICINITY WITH A SIMILAR NAME. WHEREAS, by Annexation No. 7, ;the city limits of the SIICity of San Jacinto have been extended to the centerline of State 9 Street at the, intersection. of Central_ Avenue and thence north- i 10 westerly along the center lime of Central Avenue for a distance a 11 of approximately 775 feet- and 12H WHEREAS, the said Central Avenue is the northwesterly i 1 13 prolongation of the street within the City of Sara Jacinto known F 1 jas Ramona Boulevard, and it is the desire of the City Council r of 'said e ity to cause the street to be known by the name of l.ui,Romoua Boulevard from the point where it fully enters the juris- diction of the City of San Jacinto, and WHEREAS, the Sara Jacinto Chamber of Commerce area the 19lPlanning Commission of the County of Riverside have been consid- 201' ering the establishment of an expressway or a similar major highway in the vicinity of the City of San Jacinto to be known 21211 � lay the name of "Ramona"; and `'13WHEREAS, the passibility of confusion between the 'L ,jpresent Romona Boulevard and the proposed Ramona highway exists, 10 ,Eif the latter should be established as a highway allowing i ' street addresses to bear the name "Ramona" rather than as an n r1 { expressway upon which there would be no abutting street addresses; 2Sl; iand 219 WHEREAS, it is the desire of the present 'City C-luncil 00i1of the City of Sara Jacinto to avoid confusion between two possible 3111streets in the same vicinity having the same name for street vr; laddresses and the said council in such event desires to give the FF -.NPMOCKS C.WICKHAM imajor highway the first priority of having said name since such :t"ORNEYS AT LAW ,63 E.MAIN STREET � 7 SAN JACINTO.CALIF. I� I name would aptly associate the highway with the vicinity; 2 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED in regular session this 3rd day of October, 1967, by the City Council of the City of San Jacinto as follows : 5 1® The City Council declares that a major highway in the vicinity of the City of Sara Jacinto should have first; prior- I 7 ity of the use of the name "Ramona" should it become necessary 8 to allow only one street to bear that name. A 2, The present city council respectfully requests 10 all future councilmen of this city to bear in mind the moral commitment hereby made should the question of abandoning the 1 12 name of Ramona on the present Ramona Boulevard and to give due` 13 consideration to giving first 'priority to a county or state 141highway in the vicinity for the use of the name of Romona; under 15 the circumstances herein described.
