2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JACINTO, A CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITY; REQUESTING TERM-
3 INATION OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN JACINTO
AND THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN'DEVELOP
4 MENT FOR FUNDS ADVANCED FOR PRELIMINARY ARCHITECTURAL
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR A CIVIC CENTER

g WHEREAS, the United States of America has heretofore made an advance, 'our-
7 ' suant to an agreement dated August 31 , 1967 to the City of San Jacinto in the
8 I, amount of $5,184 .00 for the purpose of plan preparation of the public work de-
9 scribed in the agreement as a "civic center building to consist of city hall ,
10 police department and fire station; and
11 WHEREAS, by the use of the Federal advance the City of San Jacinto caused
12 to be prepared plans and specifications for the public work described in the
13 aforesaid agreement; and
14 ': WHEREAS, no construction has been undertaken of the project or any portion
15 thereof described in the aforesaid agreement dated as of the 31st day of August

16 i 1967; and
17 WHEREAS, there is no reasonable likelihood of the planned project or any

18Iportion thereof being undertaken because in the absence of voter approval to is-
19 , sue quarter million dollar general obligation bond with which a civic center was
20 to have been built as planned , a fire station and a,police station was built
21 through the assistance of community-wide volunteer help. The following year
22 lwith current municipal operation revenue a commercial store building was pur
2311 chased , renovated and converted into the city hall . The architectural plans
24 prepared with the Department of Housing and Urban Development money became un
25 jusable simply because the people would not allow the expenditure for such a-
25 civic center.

27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San

28 Jacinto that as there is no reasonable likelihood of the project or any portion
291 thereof as planned with the Federal advance ever being placed under construction
30 for the reasons set forth above , the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
31 '` be requested to make a.determination that the agreement dated on the 31st day of
32 (, August 1967 be terminated and that the City of San Jacinto be relieved of all

I liability thereunder.
2 ADOPTED this =V"¢' day of August 1973 pursuant to the authority of the
31 City Council of the City of San Jacinto.

9 The undersigned duly qualified and acting City Clerk of the City of San
10 Jacinto does hereby certify that the attached resolution is a true and correct
11 copy of Resolution No. 997 adopted on the-�;`/'• day of August 1973 at a legal-
12 ly convened meeting of the City Council with respect to the agreement between
13 the Government and the City of San Jacinto dated the 31st day of August 1967;
14 I further certify that such resolution has been fully recorded in the journals
15 of proceedings and records in my office.
