1 A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES'
2 RETIREMENT SYSTEM AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JACINTO
3 WHEREAS, the Public Employees ' Retirement Law permits the participation of
public agencies and their employees in the Public Employees ' Retirement System
4 by the execution of a contract and sets forth the procedure by which said; pub-
lic agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees to amendments
5 to said law; and
6 WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend this contract is the
adoption by the legislative body of the public agency of a resolution giving
7 notice of its intention to approve an amendment to said contract, which resolu- o
1 tion shall contain a summary of the changes proposed in said contract; and

WHEREAS, the following is a statement of the proposed change:

Contracting agencies may amend their contracts under the provisions
101 of SB 37 , Chapter 91 , Statutes of 1973, to redefine the definition
of local policemen and county peace officers to permit all persons
11 assigned to identification and communication duties in the police
department or a sheriff's office who are not now local safety mem-
12 bers and who were in such employment on August 4, 1972 , to elect
safety membership on or before September 28, 1973.

WHEREAS, the cost of such change for the public agency with both miscellan-I
14 eous and safety categories of membership can be estimated by applying the dif-
ference between the public agency's contribution rate for its safety members and
15 its contribution rate for its miscellaneous members to the covered payroll of
the members affected by this amendment.

WHEREAS, the cost of such change for the public agency with only the safety
17 category of membership can be estimated by applying the public agency's contri-
bution rate for safety members to the covered payroll of the employees affected
18 by this amendment.
19 �I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San
Jacinto gives , and it does hereby give notice of intention to approve an amend-
20 ment to the Contract between the City Council and the Board of Administration of
the Public Employees ' Retirement System to accomplish the above change.
