1 RESOLUTION NO. 1034
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE TO SUPPORT AND
3 COOPERATE WITH THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY GOVERNMENT
IN ITS BICYCLE-ORIENTED POLICIES AND PROJECTS.

5 WHEREAS the population of the City of San Jacinto, like many other com-
munities , is cognizant of air pollution intensified by the daily usage of in-
6 ternal combustion engine vehicles; and
7 WHEREAS many of the San Jacinto residents , ;including school children ar
senior citiznes , are incapable of driving passenger vehicles ; and

WHEREAS the use of bicycles for purposes of transportation , pleasure and
9 non-air-polluting activity is a major necessity in San Jacinto; and

10 WHEREAS the City of San Jacinto is actively seeking means to provide safe
and proper bicycling streets and paths within the limits of the incorporated
11 city as well as in the surrounding county areas; and
12 WHEREAS the city government of San Jacinto does not have a professional
staff with the necessary expertise to study and implement bicycle-oriented
13 streets and routings; and
14 WHEREAS the Riverside County government has the professional capability
to conduct bicycle-oriented studies , implement conclusions of studies and
15 Supervisorial policies and advise various agencies and municipalities.

16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
Jacinto hereby goes on record to support the Riverside County government in its
17 efforts to construct and/or improve bicycle-oriented streets , paths , routings
and directives throughout the County with particular emphasis on projects in
18 the San Jacinto Valley; and
19 BE IT FURTHE'R '?ESOLVED the City of San Jacinto is prepared to cooperate
with the County government in bicycle-oriented projects directly affecting the
20 city's streets and highways hereafter for purposes of transportation , pleasure
and safety facotrs.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
22 the Riverside County Board of Supervisors and Mr. Douglas Powell , County Road
Commissioner.
