2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF
3 RESOLUTION 76-132 OF THE CITY OF CORONA,
CALIFORNIA, OPPOSING DRAFT POLICY ELEMENT
4 OF THE STATE TRANSPORTATIOE PLAN
5i WHEP:EAS , It has come to the attention of the Council of the
fi
City of San Jacinto that the draft Policy Element of the State
7
Transportation Plan, as prepared by the State Transportation Board,
is now under consideration and will be the subject of several
9
hearings during the month of November, and,
10
WHEREAS , This City desires to support the efforts of the City
11
of Corona to oppose the draft Policy Element of the State Transpor-

tation Plan by its Resolution No. 76-132 , and,
13
WHEREAS , The plan apparently would stifle freeway development
14
in favor of subsidized mass public transit, a goal which may serve
15
certain portions of the State, but which certainly would noL be in
16
the best interests of this area, and,
17
WHEREAS , The terminology of the plan is either over-board or
-18
irresponsible and establishes a State regulation structure to a
19
degree which the public simply is not ready to accept, and,

WHEREAS , It does not appear to be wise public policy to
21
eliminate the State Highway Commission , ;which this plan would
22
1apparently do ,

NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, by the City: Council of the
24
1 City of 'San Jacinto that it hereby. states its support of the City

of Corona in its apposition to this draft Policy Element as now
26
written and instructs its staff convey this opposition to all
27
appropriate parties , including the Riverside County Mayors ' and
28
Councilmen' s Conference, the Citrus Belt Division of the League of
29
California Cities , Riverside Transportation Agency, Riverside' County
