2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO REQUESTING THAT THE PLANNING COMMISSION
3 OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE MAINTAIN THE PRESENT
SPECIFIC PLAN FOR COMMONWEALTH AVENUE IN THE HEMET
4 SAN JACINTO AREA.

6 This resolution is adopted with the following facts in mind:

A. The jointly adopted General Plan for the Hemet San Jacinto
8 area by the Cities of San Jacinto and Hemet and the County of
Riverside proposes a major East-West road of perhaps Freeway
9 Standards lying between the two cities .
10 B. Thereafter the County of Riverside established a specific plan
for Commonwealth Avenue that establishes it as the major east-west
11 traffic artery that comes closest to that proposed by the General
Plan.

C. The Planning Commission of the County of Riverside is now consid
13 ering a proposal to vacate the specific plan leaving no specific
plan for a major east-west route between the said two cities .

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
15 City of San Jacinto sitting in regular adjourned session the
25th day of November 1975 as follows :

1 . The council finds the foregoing facts to be true.

2 . The council finds that the present specific plan is the most
18 logical and convenient route for any east-west route described
and requests the Planning Commission of the County of Riverside
19 to keep the specific plan in force and effect.
20 3. The council acknowledges that it has heretofore recommended
that fund priorities be established for the prolongation of
21 the Ramona Expressway route with the effect of postponing develop-
ment of the Commonwealth Avenue project. In so doing it did
22 not intend to recommend an abandonment of the Commonwealth Avenue
development, but a postponement only.

4. The City Clerk is instructed to certify to the adoption of
24 this resolution and to send copies to the Planning Commission,
County of Riverside and to the Planning Commission, City of
25 Hemet.
