2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SAN JACINTO
CALIFORNIA, HONORING THE RETIREMENT OF ERVIN SPINDEL

4 WHEREAS, Mr. Ervin Spindel , Director of Public Works and Community Develop-
ment for the City of Downey, has recently announc6d his retirement after 31 years
5 of progressive public service; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Spindel has been active in raising the professionalism of civil
engineering, urban planning, building and safety, street maintenance and water
7 distribution as _these vital functions relate to city government; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Spindel is ,noted for thoroughly training his staff so that they
have either moved up within the ranks in Downey, or so that they have taken his
good ideas to other cities; some of the jurisdictions that bear the stamp of Mr.
91 Spindel 's excellent training are:
10 San Jacinto Huntington Park
1 Irvine Los Angeles
Burbank Scottsdale, Arizona
12 Ontario Los Angeles `County
Long Beach Los Angeles Flood Control
13 Newport Beach and other jurisdictions
14 WHEREAS , Mr. Spindel has long been an activist in encouraging well-planned,
safe transportation systems for motorists and pedestrians through his participa-
I5tion in the American Public Works Association, the Metropolitan Transportation
Engineering Board, the City and County Engineers ' Association, and during his
16 ,tenure on the Engineering faculty of the University of Southern California .
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of 'San
Jacinto honors Mr. Ervin Spindel on his retirement and wishes him success in the
is future.
19 MOVED, PASSED AND ADOPTED the 23rd day of October 1979.
