RESOLUTION NO. 1257
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO SUPPORTING FEDERAL AGING PROGRAMS

WHEREAS, on October 18, 1978, Congress passed a series of amendments to the
4
Older American Act which were so extensive as to constitute almost a new act; and
5
WHEREAS, the thrust of these new amendments is to mandate programs to assist
6
our older Americans to remain in their communities; and
7
WHEREAS, the current funding under a continuing resolution passed by Congres
8
does not provide the necessary funds to carry out Congressional mandates .

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of San
10
Jacinto goes on record as favoring an adequate federal appropriation to take the
11
place of the continuing resolution for fiscal year 1979.
12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that adequate funding be made available for the
13
Older Americans Act in 1980.

MOVED, PASSED AND ADOPTED on the 17th day of April 1979.
