1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN JACINTO, ACKNOWLEDGING APRIL 1 - 5, 1991 AS
2 NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK
3 WHEREAS, the week of April 1-5 , 1991 has been designated
as National Community Development Week . The City of San Jacinto
4 is a participant in the Communitv Development Block Grant ( CDBG)
program which funds a myriad of social service , economic
5 development and housing programs in this community and,
6 WHEREAS, in this community and in communities throughout
the nation, seventeen years of Community Development Block Grant
7 program funding has developed a strong working network of
relationships between the local government , residents of
8 Communitv Development target neighborhoods and the many nonprofit
agencies which provide services and help make possible our
9 commitment to those neighborhoods , and
10 WHEREAS, this community recognizes that the Community

Development Block Grant program is a partnership of Federal,
11 local government , nonprofit and community efforts , and that
the services funded by the Federal CDBG program, administered
12 by the local government and often delivered by local nonprofit
organizations , relies heavily on the dedication and goodwill
13 of our combined efforts ,
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that during National Community
Development Week 191 , this community will give special thanks
15 and recognition to all participants whose hard work and devotion
to the neighborhoods and their low and moderate income residents
16 help insure-' the Quality and effectiveness of the Communitv
17 Development Block Grant program, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this community, along with
18 the service providers and others whose names are appended to
this resolution , hereby petition the U. S . Congress and
19 Administration to recognize the outstanding work being done
locally and nationally by the Community Development Block Grant
20 program, its vital importance to the community and to the people
who live in its lower income neighborhoods , and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution
22 he conveyed to the appropriate elected and appointed officials
in the Federal government and that this community' s name, and
23 the names of its nonprofit service providers , be added to the
roll of those committed to the preservation and full funding
24 of the Communitv Development Block Grant and maintenance of
25 its essential features over the course of the next Congress .
