Police Lieutenants and Sergeants required to fill a regularly scheduled shift other than their own shall receive overtime at their straight pay rate. Sergeants on a 3/12 work scheduled shall be entitled to overtime, paid at straight time rates for those hours in excess of 80 hours per 14 day work cycle. Straight time rates shall also be paid for court-time. Compensatory time off shall be provided to Police Lieutenants and Sergeants as follows: The City presently provides each effected employee with the option of receiving earned overtime in cash payments distributed following each appropriate fourteen (14) day work period or, at the employee's discretion, the option of designating each overtime hour worked, multiplied by a factor of 1.5, to be credited to a compensatory time off account, in a maximum amount of forty (40) hours as determined after multiplication of hours by the 1.5 factor. Said account and maximum accrual limitation remains in full force and effect but shall represent overtime resulting from non-training work activities by effected employees. In addition to the above compensatory time off account, there shall be created a second, separate and distinct compensatory time off account that shall likewise have a maximum accrual of forty (40) hours and which shall be funded by the same arithmetic formula as described above. However, this second and distinct compensatory time off account shall be funded only by overtime work hours that result from effected employee participation in Department mandated training courses. Such training courses include, but are not limited to, range qualification, defensive tactics training and baton training. Additionally, neither of the above two (2) compensatory time off accounts shall be convertible to cash except at the time of the employee's separation from employment with the City. Absent any said separation, the accruals shall be distributed only as time off. Either of the compensatory time off accounts described herein may be carried over from year to year (with no greater than forty (40) hours accumulated in each account) at the employee's option. d/,,,, e L4 t Mayor ATTEST: r-A 0tr- v- uty _ ity Clerk PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th Day of March 1993 .
