A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF HEMET AS
THE PREFERRED LOCATION FOR THE NEW RIVERSIDE COUNTY,
HEMET COURTHOUSE.
The City Council of the City of San Jacinto resolves as follows!
WHEREAS, the Superior court of California, County of Riverside is seeking to
build a new courthouse facility in the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley area, and
WHEREAS, the Project Feasibility report indicates that the new courthouse
should be centrally located in the region and near other County facilities and services in
the County, and
WHEREAS, the City of Hemet is currently home to the existing Riverside County
mid-county courthouse and other Riverside County functions and public services, and
WHEREAS, the City of Hemet has a prime, centrally-located site that would
accommodate the proposed 116,303 square foot facility in an urbanized, civic center
location, and
WHEREAS, the Hemet location is accessible by existing public transit, adjacent
to the new Metro Link line being developed to serve downtown Hemet, proximately to
major regional transportation corridors, highways and freeways, and
WHEREAS, the Hemet site is supported by neighboring businesses, restaurants
and services needed by the Courthouse, its employees and court clientele, and
WHEREAS, development of the new courthouse in downtown Hemet would
be conveniently located and easily accessibly by San Jacinto residents, and,
WHEREAS, development of the new courthouse in downtown Hemet will create
an employment renter and economic stimulus beneficially to the residents of San
Jacinto, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Jacinto supports projects with
community and regional benefit in the Hemet - San Jacinto Valley that create jobs and
economic activity.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA HEREBY RESOLVES AND ORDERS AS
�. FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and incorporated
herein.
SECTION 2. The City of San Jacinto hereby recommends the City of Hemet as
the preferred location for the new Hemet courthouse facility.
SECTION 3. The City directs staff to continue their assistance to the Judicial
Council, Administrative Office of the Courts, Office of Court Construction and
Management and County of Riverside, to advocate and facilitate the development of the
new court facility in downtown Hemet, CA.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 6'h day of January, 2011 by the
following vote:

Nays: None
