A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COtiNCIL OF THE.
CITY OF SAN JACINTO ADOPTING AND IMPLEMEN'1'1NG
THE CLEANEST COUNTY IN THE WEST PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto has concluded that the elimination of litter
and illegal dumping Will improve the region eirvironrnentally, aesthetically, and
economically.
11'HEREAS, the City of San Jacinto authorizes and entpnwers WRCOG Staff to
execute and apply for funding under the California Beverage Container and Litter
Reduction Act.
�VIIF..REAS, the plan suhmitted to the California Department of Conservation's
Division of Recycling for funding under the California Beverage Container and Litter
Reduction Act encompasses the principle and policies of the Riverside County Cleanest
County in the West Campaign.
WHEREAS, participation in the Cleanest County in the West Program
minimizes individual jurisdictional duplication of effort, achieves economics of scale
and provides assistance to all participating jurisdictions in eliminating litter and illegal
dumping while increasing the recycling of beverage containers and other recyclables.
WHEREAS, The Cleanest County in the West Program identifies the methods
and means by which litter and illegal dumping can be reduced or eliminated through a
comprehensive, integrated, area-wide, and regional litter reduction and illegal dumping
program which complements the individual cities' Source Reduction and Recycling
Elements, while improving communication, enhancing public education efforts, and
instilling conunuuity pride in our ❑eigbborhaods.
NOON', THEREFORE. BE 11' RESOLVED that the Cit_v of San Jacinto
endorses and aerees to participate cooperatively in the Cleanest County in the West
Program, its objectives, policies, and implementation steps, thereby creating cleaner,
more environmentally sound, and economically viable neighborhoods and communities.
