HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2249 RESOLUTION NO. 2249 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY`S PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (CEDS) FOR THE CITY OF SAN JACINTO WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the United States Department of Commerce was re-authorized for a five (5)year period by legislation enacted on November 13, 1998; and WHEREAS, the EDA Reform Act of 1998 requires a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) as a prerequisite for receiving funds under the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Program; and WHEREAS, the purpose of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is TO stimulate and increase job opportunities in areas of high unemplovment and low family im:omes; and WHEREAS, development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy requires a local planning process to formulate a strategy to guide the economic growth of an area: and WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto desires to develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the City of San Jacinto, and WHEREAS, the development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy enhances the City's efforts in improving the quality of life for its citizens. NOW TI ILREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: Section 1. The Cite Council hereby authorizes the development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the City of San Jacinto pursuant to the EDA Reform Act of 1998. Section 2, This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and the City Clerk shall certify to the vote adopting this Resolution. 1 ADOPTED, SIGNED and APPROVED this 23`d day of May 2000. ] c Patrick n.
