A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN JACINTO TO CLARIFY BUSINESS LICENSE
FEES APPLICABLE TO RENTAL OF SINGLE FAMILY
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES
WHEREAS, in September 2009, the City Council directed that staff enforce Municipal
Code Chapter 5.04 Business Licenses Generally and Municipal Code 5.08 Business
Licenses Fees as they pertain to landlords of any rental property, business or personal;
and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code 5.04 Business Licenses Generally (5.04.030) states that
the license fee for the rental of properties is determined by ownership of the property;
and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code 5.08 Business License Fees (5.08.120) states that the fee
for each apartment, business office, and business of a like nature or similar character
be a minimum of $70.00 per year for the first four units, plus an additional $1.00 per
year for each unit or space over four in number; and
WHEREAS, to fully and equitably enforce Business License Ordinances, all landlords
as property owners and property management companies must pay the prescribed
business license fee.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, ordered, and determined by the City Council of the
City of San Jacinto that the base fee of $70, as set forth in Municipal Code 5.08
Business License Fees (5.08.120) shall apply, for any owner of rented single family
dwelling units, to that owner's first four (4) properties (units), with an additional $1.00
assessed for single family residential dwelling unit over four(4) in number.
