A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
JACINTO, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF TICKETS
FOR THE RAMONA PAGEANT AND MAKING FINDINGS RELATED
THERETO
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto ("City") is a municipal corporation of
the State of California; and
WHEREAS, Government Code section 37110 authorizes the City Council
of the City of San Jacinto to spend money from the general fund for music and
promotion; and
WHEREAS, the Ramona Pageant Association is a non-profit organization
that produces the Ramona Outdoor Play and is responsible for developing and
maintaining the Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the Ramona Outdoor Play, numerous other
musical and cultural events are conducted at the Ramona Bowl, including, during the
2006 season, the 58th Annual Concerts Under The Stars program, Rogers and
Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music', and Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's
Dream"; and
WHEREAS, the Ramona Bowl's history is inextricably tied to that of the
City of San Jacinto, with many visitors to the Bowl having historically stayed in the City
of San Jacinto while visiting from other areas; and
WHEREAS, according to a study conducted by the University of North
Carolina's Institute of Outdoor Dramas, outdoor dramas have a powerful economic
impact on their local areas and often their regions and states (INSTITUTE OF OUTDOOR
